A man and van is a smaller vehicle and a small crew for a list that would look lost in a large removal truck. It is a normal way to move part of a home, a few rooms of furniture, or a modest shared house. It is a poor way to move a four-bed house, and we will say so.
What you are booking
You are booking the van, the people and the time to load an agreed list, drive it, and unload it. Blankets and straps are part of that. Beds and tables that come apart in a standard way can be taken down and rebuilt if we have agreed it. Insurance is provided. Ask us what is covered when you book.
The quote is in writing and stays valid for 3 months. It matches the list you sent. If the pile in the hallway is twice the list, we stop and agree a change before it goes in the van. That is fairer than pretending the original quote still fits.
Details of the service are on our man and van page. Use the quote form and attach a plain list. A photo of the stack is better than “a few bits”.
What is not in a basic job
Packing of a kitchen is not assumed. You can add it, or you can seal your own boxes. Waiting for a key that was meant to be there is not free time. A second stop, a third address, or a request to dispose of rubbish needs to be on the quote.
We do not disconnect gas or water. Fridges should be empty and dry. Anything still screwed to the wall as part of the building stays unless we have said we can take it.
What changes the quote
The list comes first. Then stairs, a long carry from the parking place, and the distance between the two addresses. A close in Broken Cross with a drive is simpler than a lane past Sutton or Henbury where the van stops short of the door. Upton Priory is often straightforward until the close is full of cars.
The date matters at the start and end of term, and on Fridays, because the diary fills. A clear list booked earlier is easier to price than a phone call the night before.
If you are comparing this with a full house move, send the same list to both thoughts and see which one we recommend. We would rather quote the right vehicle than squeeze a house into a van and run out of day.
