Directions from Alderley Edge to our base
Alderley Edge is a village on the A34, west of Macclesfield, known for London Road, the station and the wooded sandstone ridge above it. Homes in the centre include flats and cottages close to the shops. Further out are family houses on quieter roads, some with long drives and gates. The Edge itself is countryside, not a housing estate. A van belongs on the road to the house, not on a footpath up the hill.
From 34 Market Pl we drive west out of Macclesfield and onto the A34. It is a longer local drive than Broken Cross or Tytherington, and it is still an ordinary day move, not an overnight journey. Traffic on the A34 decides the arrival more than the miles. Once we are in the village, London Road is the constraint. Restrictions are real. We need a drive, a side road where loading is lawful, or a short carry. Send the street name, not just “the village”.
House moves, flats over the shops, and the occasional piano or small office are the jobs we see. Packing is worth doing where there is glass and art, and where the carry from the kerb is longer than a path. Tell us about electric gates, a steep drive and a stair that turns. A photo of the piano or the sofa against the doorway saves a wasted trip.
The library is at 44a London Road. The primary school is on Church Lane. The station is in the village if people are arriving by train while the van comes from Macclesfield. Council tax and bins are Cheshire East. The National Trust land on the Edge is the walk for the weekend after you unpack, once the van is gone.

Alderley Edge station
The station is in the village, which helps if you are travelling light. A removal van still has to deal with the streets around it.
- Park
National Trust, Alderley Edge
The sandstone Edge is National Trust countryside on the doorstep. It is a walk, not a place to take a removal van.
- Council
Cheshire East Council
Alderley Edge is in Cheshire East, so council tax, bins and parking restrictions are theirs. SK9 is the district.
- Parking
Cheshire East parking dispensations
Loading for a move is allowed without a dispensation. London Road restrictions, bus stops and disabled bays still stand.
- Police
Cheshire Constabulary
101 for non-emergencies and 999 if there is danger. Do not leave a van across London Road.
- Health
NHS 111

Moving in Alderley Edge: common questions
How do you get from Macclesfield to Alderley Edge?
From Market Place we head west and join the A34. It is a longer local drive than Tytherington or Broken Cross, and still a normal working day.
Is London Road hard to park on?
Yes. The village centre has restrictions. We need the side street, the drive, or a legal loading place, not a guess on double yellow lines.
Do you move flats above the shops as well as houses?
Yes. Those stairs and the parking are the reason to send photos. Larger houses on the lanes are a different job again.
