Directions from Disley to our base
Disley is a village on the A6, north-east of Macclesfield, with a station, a library off Buxton Old Road and Lyme on the edge of the hills. Houses line the village and the roads off the main street: stone cottages, semis, and family homes with short drives. The A6 is busy. It is a place people drive through, which means a removal van cannot treat the high street as a bay. Side streets and drives are how the job works.
From 34 Market Pl the sensible van route is north on the A523, through the Poynton side, and then onto the A6. You can also think of the hills via Rainow, but that is not the way we bring a loaded van if the main roads are open. It is a longer drive than Bollington or Poynton alone. We still quote it as a day move from Macclesfield. Arrival depends on traffic more than on a fixed minute.
Tell us the street, whether you are above or below the A6, and if the path to the door is steps. Flats and cottages near the centre need a carry. Houses with a drive are simpler if the van fits. Packing is useful because the drive back is long enough that loose glass in a box is a bad idea. If you are moving out of Disley to another part of the UK, we load here and then continue. Lyme is not a stopping point for the van.
The library is not open every weekday, so check before you plan to join. The station is in the village. Poynton High School states that Disley is part of the area it serves. Council tax and bins are Cheshire East. Do not leave the van on the A6 while we carry a fridge up a side street.

- Council
Cheshire East Council
Disley is in Cheshire East, SK12. Council tax and bins are with them even though the A6 feels like a through road to somewhere else.
- Parking
Cheshire East parking dispensations
Loading and unloading for a move does not usually need a dispensation. The A6 and any loading ban still cannot be blocked.
- Police
Cheshire Constabulary
101 for non-emergencies and 999 if there is danger. A van on the A6 is a safety problem, not a convenience.
- Health
NHS 111
Use 111 for urgent advice. Macclesfield Hospital is back towards Macclesfield if you need the local general hospital.

The practical van route is north on the A523 towards Poynton, then the A6. It is a longer drive than Bollington, and it is still a day move.
Can you stop on the A6?
